Joan!! Navua River Trip!!

Still enjoying the time with my sister, Joan! Besides our gab times, we ventured out to see more of Fiji. This is the same river trip that we traveled on with Clint, Holly and family; super fun time then and so we knew Joan would love it also. We invited Elder and Sister Decker to join us.

Off to the village; the Kava Ceremony, dancing, cooking of the meal, their primary school, and their crafts!

They are very talented people that live in this village treating visitors to this experience. The children go to primary school here and the older ones are water taxied to the schools down the river.

We left the village and headed on up the river to the falls!

  Yes! That's Ed!

Back out of the falls area and onto a bili bili...love that ride!

We had a great day!!

JOAN!!!

During our term break vacation, my twin sister, Joan, arrived to spend ten marvelous days with us! On our way to Nadi, the day before, we stopped along the way and bought some "ivi" of which we were told to cook for a long time and add water if it ran out. I think we bought them because the kids were so cute! This next stand had a row of plants that are used for making curry.

We met Joan at the airport in Nadi on May 2nd at 5:30 in the morning!

Went back to the Wailoaloa Hotel, where we had stayed the night before, for breakfast and check-out.

Then we were on our way across the top of the island-----first stopping at the botanical gardens, Garden of the Sleeping Giant, just out of Nadi.

Stopped for lunch at Wa Resort --quite nice! Must remember!

On our way again. Down the Eastern side of the island. Narrow roads--villages--people--terrific country!

After our trip home from the airport, we spent some time in and around Suva, and downtown at the market.

Look at the next postings for our Navua River Trip, the stay out at Leleuvia Island, and our trip back to the airport.
