Beginning Monday, October 13, 2014, through December 15, 2015, the Suva Fiji Temple will be closed, to accommodate an extensive renovation of the temple. Following the renovation, there will be an open house for the public and then the temple will be rededicated. The Suva Fiji Temple was the first temple of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints in Melanesia and in Fiji. It was dedicated on 18 June 2000 by President Gordon B. Hinckley. We have loved attending the temple weekly and will really miss that opportunity the last five months of our mission.
In the morning sun!
Other times of the day......
The Temple President and his wife, President and Sister Davis, have lovingly held this position now for almost three years. A unique piece of information is that he was the Mission President here in Fiji, forty years ago. They are pictured here with some of our college people. The Watlings (assistant to the president), the Updikes and Christiansens were the temple couples serving here--they will be missed. (will have to find pictures of them)
In the early evening with lights and with clouds! Beautiful Temple!
We've enjoyed!! The people here on the Fiji Islands will miss having this opportunity for the next few months.
