Padam Lala Flat

We've moved into a different flat nearer the college where we serve. It just took a couple trips as we really don't have a ton of stuff (!) and the new place is mostly furnished as far as furniture. Now, don't you wish this was our regular type of move? .. lol

Some pictures of our two-story; attached to the back of our landlords home...three bed, two bath, laundry area, two back decks, nice family/kitchen area and pretty yard full of trees and flowers. We feel quite cozy here.

A place to hang laundry outside on the upper deck (!love it!) and the laundry area just inside.

The rest of the house:

Makes for a nice home for us in Fiji.

Kiuva Beach!! with Terrys....

Ed spent about a month looking at this beach on google earth; decided it was time to visit. So, on Saturday, 25th of January, we went for a ride with Elder and Sister Terry to take some supplies to the sister missionaries out by Nausori -- perfect! That took us close to where this beach is located. Ed had drawn a map from google; and after traveling around through beautiful countryside, we found a little road that took us down to this gorgeous, long beach! We went right by a little dwelling where a Grandmother and her Grandson lived. The custom is to give them $5 Fijian...inexpensive! and it helps them. We just waded, walked and enjoyed.

A GREAT PLACE! WE WILL BE BACK! WITH A PICNIC! AND SWIMMING SUITS!

Group Hug from Home!

The holiday became complete when we received this package from Home! At one of the family gatherings, when most were attending, they put together this long-long poster for us. We were truly excited; they love us! they miss us!

OUR FAMILY IS THE VERY BEST -- WE LOVE EACH ONE OF THEM -- THEY ARE IN OUR PRAYERS DAILY

75th Birthday -- Opening Social!

Ed turned 75 years old this year!  We are blessed that he is healthy and happy at this age :) We celebrated it with our Fiji LDS College faculty at their opening social. The office staff surprised him with a marvelous cake and a salu salu. ...and a great big "happy birthday song"...and "hip, hip, hooray"!

After the cutting of the cake, we had a great dinner; everything from chicken curry, talo greens (spinach) in coconut cream, and fish!

I took pictures around the room of some of the faculty and some brought their spouses:

The Kete's and the Korovou's

Earnest, wife and little boy.... Mereoni and her husband (Earnest and Mereoni are the counselors in our school)

A student teacher and her husband (need to get her name)......and Litiana Bali and her husband (she is our registrar--a good one)

Our new principal, Michael Carthew and John Millar, our leader from Australia for TVET. These two also know each other well.
And then a picture of Brother Carthew and Sister Maiwiriwiri, one of the Vice Principals.

Others watching around the room....

And then to the talent show!! There was everything for singing, guitar, stand-up comedy and a "show n tell"...

This was the "show n tell" shown above...Will have to try this when we go camping; or maybe just for emergencies!  It burned over an hour's worth of time.  (hallowed out orange and some coconut oil)

Chee Wai Lunch!

One of our favorite places to gather for our Saturday Senior Missionary Luncheon!

We sit at a big table and order family style; we order a group soup and then each couple orders a large meal to pass around...  fun place and great oriental food!
